BoDean Company is the solution to your construction materials and aggregate needs. Aggregate is a processed rock that is necessary to support and protect various construction projects ranging from storm drainage systems to road construction.

With a history dating back to 1910, Belinda and Dean Soiland took over operations at the Mark West Quarry in 1989. With slow and steady growth and through the dedication of our experienced employees, we have grown our company from its humble beginnings that once operated out of a trailer office with a low budget, to a thriving family business that is able to provide a variety of goods and services to both long-standing clients and new ones alike.

Incorporated in 1988, we continue to be the primary supplier of quality crushed rock and asphaltic concrete to the greater Santa Rosa area and northern Napa County.

History of BoDean Company

BoDean Company operates three locations in Sonoma County: Mark West Quarry, BoDean Forestville Quarry and BoDean Asphalt Plant.

In 1997, just a short eight years after taking over the Mark West Quarry operations, the BoDean Forestville Quarry, also known as the Blue Rock Quarry, was acquired.

In 2001, BoDean Company ventured into the asphalt production business by acquiring an existing asphalt plant in Santa Rosa.

In 2006, we constructed and installed a wash plant and water recycling system at the Mark West Quarry. This wash plant allows us to manufacture washed products, including sand. These products are washed of clay and dirt and, therefore, suitable as ingredients not only for asphalt production but also for concrete. Our closed-loop washing system became the first of its kind in North America and aided our company in our constant efforts to rely on sustainable practices.

The BoDean Difference

Like many of our customers, sustainability is our priority at BoDean Company. One of our greatest achievements in our goals towards sustainable practices is that our Mark West Quarry became the first quarry in the world to fully operate under its own photovoltaic (solar) power in 2011. This photovoltaic system is expected to generate more than 1,120,000 kilowatt hours of renewable energy each year, and the electricity produced by the solar panels will offset enough energy to power 160 typical American homes for a full year.

In keeping with our goals of sustainability, we spent considerable expense designing the Blue Rock Quarry around the same model as our Mark West Quarry. Thus, the quarry in Forestville runs with environmental and cost-efficiency in mind.

All quarries are required to have a reclamation plan that details how the mined land will be reclaimed. At BoDean Company, reclamation is done at the same time as mining to create a more ideal situation. During the mining process, we move topsoil from an area that is to be mined to one that has already been mined in an effort to preserve and reuse the resources given to us. We also work to move and replant trees from prospective mining areas to other areas to avoid cutting them down. This allows us to be better stewards of the land.
